Course Summary
This course offers hands-on practical experience that will focus on the development of your coding skills and designed around the design, build and test of a fully functioning app that will become part of your portfolio to prospective employers.
The qualification is made up of 4 units that progress you through front-end and back-end processes, learning coding process and flow.
• knowledge and skills needed to build a front-end web application.
• develop knowledge and skills needed to build a dynamic, interactive Frontend web application.
• practical skills to build a Back-End web application
• effectively build a Full Stack web application.
This course is delivered for 4 hours per week online for 34 weeks termtime only. In addition to this all learners are required to undertake 7.5 hours of independent study every week for 52 weeks of the year, or 11.5 hours over 34 weeks.
The course has been developed in collaboration with and supported by the Code Institute.
This course is suitable for anyone who is considering a career in IT as a Web Developer or those who are looking to upskill and are already working in a website development role.
This qualification is designed to open you up to a career in technology and programming and provide you with the skills and confidence to apply for one of the tens of thousands of unfilled vacancies in technology advertised in UK every week.
Course Content
On this course you will learn:
• knowledge and skills in the design, development and testing of code solutions to information processing problems
• competence in the application of frameworks and code libraries to optimise the production and testing of code solutions
• knowledge and understanding of systems for storing data and acquire skills in accessing and integrating data from various sources
• an understanding of the characteristics of user interfaces and implement solutions that meet user requirements
• competence in the deployment of web-based information systems that are secure
• competence in working in a team managing a project to deliver a coding solution.
Course Assessment
You will be assessed through coursework for both practical and theoretical elements. This may include presentations, portfolios and classwork and is graded Pass/Merit/Distinction.
Materials
Digital equipment including computers, software and cameras will be required for you to join online sessions and be able to conduct independent study.
Qualifications
You will achieve a Web Application Development, Diploma, Level 5

Entry Requirements
A minimum of experience in the work place within IT or an academic L3 qualification in IT / L3 professional qualification in IT. All candidates should have English and maths at level 2 (GCSE grade 4/C) or equivalent. to ensure they can follow the programme.
You also must successfully complete the Coding Challenge Initial assessment to be considered for the programme.
Once you have applied and taken the Coding Challenge, you will be contacted by the college to discuss your application.
