Course Summary

Dance as a course looks at the exploration and practice of a variety of dance techniques, styles and creative approaches to movement. It integrates both the physical demands of dance and the theoretical understanding required to apply these transferable skills beyond the studio, with a focus on building a career in the industry. Our dance course offers comprehensive training in technique, choreography and performance, as well as developing skills and knowledge of the dance industry.

Course Content

As a Performing Arts Dance student, you will develop the skills, knowledge, and mindset required to thrive as a specialist in this competitive industry. We aim to support each student's unique career aspirations, whether it’s becoming a performer, educator in schools, teacher, choreographer, or other roles within the dance world.

You’ll participate in weekly technique lessons covering a range of styles, including Contemporary, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Disco Freestyle, Body Conditioning and Physical Theatre. Alongside this, you'll receive training in choreography and teaching, making it a highly practical course. You’ll also take part in both in-house and external performances and work experience opportunities, gaining valuable industry experience.

The course will further strengthen your theoretical knowledge, such as the history of dance, industry insights, self-evaluation as a performer, marketing yourself in your chosen career, finding what the future of the industry looks like, and developing essential transferable skills like problem-solving, creative thinking, communication, and resilience.

Following the course our students regularly progress to top dance schools and universities as well as gaining a career in their chosen field. The skills and attitudes gained from this course are highly transferable and valued across various sectors of the industry.
