Course Summary

This qualification is designed for technicians in the motor industry who maintain and repair electric/hybrid high voltage vehicle systems and components. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and associated systems.

This qualification has been developed in close liaison with industry specialists in electric vehicle manufacturer and repair it aims to train technicians in the changing industry of vehicle repairing, and will give the technician a L4 award recognised throughout the industry in Hybrid/Electrically propelled motor vehicle.

Course Content

The course contains the following modules: L4 Electric Hybrid Vehicle practical assessment this ensures critical aspects of knowledge & skills are addressed a knowledge assessment (prior to practical tasks) and Observation by assessor, L4 Electrical Hybrid vehicle written assessment showing the understand of electrical principles relating to low and high voltage vehicle systems, knowing the hazards and first aid associated with working on live high voltage vehicle systems, knowing how to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on live high voltage vehicle systems, understand high voltage vehicle systems and components

Course Assessment

The assessments are made up of three components Electric/Hybrid practical assessment, written assessment and online multi choice exam.

All class-based materials will be provided.

Qualifications

Level 4 award in Electric/Hybrid vehicle system repair and replacement.

Progression

This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of motor mechanics or to further study/higher education.

Entry Requirements

For entry into this qualification the learners must have completed a Level 3 Award in Hybrid/Electrical vehicles or equivalent. They must have Level 2 in literacy and numeracy to be able to organise written information clearly and have a level 2 in mathematics to work out electrical calculations.
