Course Summary
This course specialises in the maintenance and repair of vehicles. It is aimed at those looking to work in the automotive industry and is supported in its design and delivery by our industry partners.
Course Content
The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the automotive engineering industry and the sector, and you will cover topics such as:
The fundamental mathematics and science needed for engineering and manufacturing
Engineering and manufacturing principals
Materials and their properties
Core Health and Safety regulations
Quality assurance, control, and improvement.
The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the automotive

• Maintenance, installation, and repair requirements
• Fault detection and diagnosis
• Isolation and resolution methods
• Communication for maintenance, installation, and repair activities
Learners will study a stand-alone Occupational Specialism in:
• Light and electric vehicles
There is a mandatory 45-day industrial placement.
Course Assessment
This qualification is assessed by a Core Component Assessment and will likely involve three assessments:
• Examination Paper 1
• Examination Paper 2
• Employer Set Project
You will then also undertake an Occupational Specialist Component Assessment.
These will involve a series of holistic practical tasks relating the specialism at hand.
You must also sucessfully complet your industrial placement (duration 45 days minimum).
Materials
All class-based materials will be provided but you will need to provide stationery and a scientific calculator. Students are also required to purchase their own protective footwear, overalls, and safety glasses.
Financial support may be available if you live in a low-household income household.
Qualifications
Technical Qualification in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing (8730-300 and 8712-35) C&G T-Level - Level.
Progression
This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Engineering or to
further study / higher education.

Entry Requirements
Minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above. Including Maths and English at grade 6 or above plus one science subject at grade 5 or above.
