Course Summary
This Introduction to CAD CAM to support learners who have an interest in this subject and wish to pursue a career in engineering specifically aligned to machining. Learners may have completed a previous Engineering qualification and wish to progress onto Level 3 or higher-level qualifications, or to gain/develop knowledge and skills required to work in industries where there are requirements to utilise industrial software and machine tools.
This qualification aims to prepare learners who are looking towards a career in advanced manufacturing. It will support upskilling within their current roles, which can then be used to progress into more senior/complex job roles, or to support a career change utilising CAD CAM software in practice.
Course Content
This qualification includes the following modules:
Creation of machining Geometry
The use of Autodesk Feature CAM to produce CAD CAM programs.
Generation of simulation of machined parts
Optimisation of the machining process
Generation of tooling data and operation plans
Generation of NC Programs
Downloading and proving of CNC programs to create basic parts
Workpiece setting and tooling.
Learners will expand their knowledge and understanding of how to use CAD CAM to produce CNC programmes in a practical setting.
Course Assessment
There are no formal assessments on this course.
Employer Benefits
This qualification will lead to employment in the industry or to further study/higher education. This course can also be used as a CPD course to upskill within their current working environment, using high specification equipment developing, knowledge, skills and behaviours required in industry.
Materials
All class-based materials will be provided but you will need to provide writing materials and a note pad.
Progression
You can progress onto a range of other CPD courses on offer from the IoT, or look at enrolling onto a Level 2 or 3 engineering qualification. All learners are interviewed prior to enrolling onto qualifications.
Entry Requirements
For entry onto this qualification learners must have a keen interest in advanced manufacturing.
