Course Summary

Course Content
The ESOL for Care course integrates language learning with practical knowledge needed for health and social care roles. Course Assessment
Students will be assessed through a combination of written assignments, practical tasks, and the development of a portfolio of evidence. Assessments include creating informational leaflets, designing charts or diagrams, and setting up informational displays. These tasks ensure that learners can demonstrate their understanding and application of the course content. Professional discussions and oral questioning will further evaluate learners' knowledge and skills. All assessments are internally marked, and quality assured to maintain high standards and consistency.

Materials
All class-based materials, portfolio folder for evidence will be provided but you will need to provide a notebook and a pen to make the many notes in class so that you are able to write up your answers in your own words. These notes will also be of benefit to you should you move onto the L2 in Health and Social Care.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion of the ESOL for Care course, students will be awarded the NCFE CACHE Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care, and Children’s and Young People’s Settings. This nationally recognised qualification demonstrates the learner's understanding of basic health and social care concepts, effective communication, and safeguarding practices. It provides a solid foundation for further study and enhances employability in the care sector, opening doors to various entry-level roles in health and social care settings.
Progression
The Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care, and Children’s and Young People’s Settings allows learners to progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, the Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care, and Children’s and Young People’s Settings, the Level 2 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce, and the Level 2 Diploma in Care. The knowledge gained provides valuable learning for those choosing to pursue further education or apprenticeships in related areas.
Entry Requirements
Prospective learners must take an initial assessment to ensure their English language proficiency is at Entry 3 level or above. Additionally, an interview with the tutor will be arranged to discuss the learner's motivations for the course and assess their commitment. This process ensures that all participants are prepared and motivated to succeed in the ESOL for Care course.
