The ESOL Entry Level 3 course content is designed to engage learners with a variety of text types and practical scenarios that build upon the skills developed at Entry Level 2.

Reading: Learners will delve into more complex texts, including informative articles, instructional texts, and literary excerpts. They will hone their skills to deduce meanings, infer information, and understand the writer's intent, while also learning to summarize and synthesise content from different sources.
Writing: The course emphasises creating detailed and structured texts such as formal correspondences, comprehensive narratives, and well-organised reports. Students will refine their grammar, expand their vocabulary, and focus on clarity and coherence in their writing.
Speaking & Listening: This module aims to enhance learners' interactive communication skills. Students will engage in extended conversations, develop clear speech, and listen for specific information and general understanding. They will also practice giving presentations and participating in group discussions, which are crucial for both academic and professional success.

Each component of the course is crafted to ensure learners are well-prepared for real-world communication, further education, and employment opportunities.

Course Assessment

The end of course assessments will be ESB (English Speaking Board) ESOL examinations which are externally set.

Initial assessment is carried out to decide on the most appropriate level for you to study.

Full support is given throughout your studies with regular reviews of your progress. Ongoing assessments, tasks and/or tests will take place throughout the course to allow your tutor to monitor your progress.

Employer Benefits

With improved language skills, staff can comprehend and execute complex instructions with greater precision, engage in in-depth interactions with colleagues and customers, and contribute more significantly to the workplace environment. The course ensures that employees are well-equipped to handle a wider range of tasks, participate in professional discussions, and support the overall goals of the organisation with confidence and competence.

Materials

All class-based materials will be provided but you will need to provide a notebook and a pen, and a dictionary is recommended.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion, students will be awarded the ESB Entry Level Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life (Entry 3). This certification is achieved by demonstrating proficiency in Reading, Writing, and Speaking & Listening through continuous assessment over the course year. Final exams are scheduled only when students have shown they are fully prepared, ensuring they approach these assessments with the confidence and competence reflective of their advanced English skills.

Progression

After completing the ESOL Entry Level 3 courses, learners can move on to the ESB Entry Level 1 ESOL Skills for Life qualification or select one of our Vocational ESOL courses to continue improving their English skills.

Entry Requirements

To ensure an optimal learning journey and successful outcomes, all prospective learners for our ESOL Entry Level 3 courses will undergo a comprehensive initial assessment. This assessment is crucial to ascertain their current level of English proficiency. For enrolment into the Entry Level 3 course, learners must be 'working towards Entry Level 3'. This process allows us to customise the course content to address the unique needs of each learner and lay a robust foundation for their advanced language development.
