Course Summary
This course runs for 2 days on 2 Consecutive Fridays, it aims to provide expert guidance to learners wishing to gain knowledge and understanding on Electric Vehicle charging equipment installation.
The qualification is aimed at practicing electricians interested in understanding how to install the range of equipment and systems available, it covers the specialised installation requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment in public, private and commercial locations and includes exclusive guidance on electrical requirements.
The course will be delivered over 2 days:
• Day 1 will consist of Theory
• Day 2 will consist of Theory Examination and a Practical Assessment
This qualification prepares learners who are looking towards a career in Electric Vehicle charging. The course is designed to help installers take advantage of the opportunities presented by the growing low carbon transport sector.
It will provide the installation requirements and knowledge to help you to make the most of potential consumer demand for low-cost alternatives to conventional fuel as well as the tax reductions and incentives going electric can provide.
On successful completion of this qualification candidates can apply for inclusion on the OLEV (The Office for Low Emission Vehicles) register of competent Electric Vehicle Charging Installers.
This Qualification is also recognised by JIB and can be included on your list of gold card qualifications upon successful completion.
Course Content
This qualification includes the following modules:
Introduction, BS7671 section 722 and the IET Code of Practice
Modes of charging, EVSE, restrictions
Installation practices, risk assessment, Earthing, protection, labelling & practical exercises
On street, commercial & industrial situations
Inspection, testing, fault finding & maintenance
Certification & notification to DNO
Practical assessment and online examination

The assessments for this qualification are:
Online multiple choice test using Evolve, Written short answer & scenario based questions and a Practical Assessment

Qualifications
Level 3 Award in Design and Installation of Domestic and Small Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Installations C&G Award (C&G 2921-31)
Progression
This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Electric Vehicle charging.
On successful completion of this qualification candidates can apply for inclusion on the OLEV (The Office for Low Emission Vehicles) register of competent Electric Vehicle Charging Installers.
Entry Requirements
This course is intended for practicing electricians as part of the assessment for this
qualification, learners MUST HOLD one of the following:
• 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment
(Buildings, Structures and the Environment)
• 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
• 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification
• 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
• 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification
• Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable
• Equivalent historical qualifications (see EAS Table 4B/4C)
• ECS Gold Card (JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician)
You will be required to provide evidence of the above and sign a declaration document prior to starting your course
Learners must also be 19+ and live in the West Midlands Combined Authority with a West Midland's postcode.
