Course Summary
This qualification prepares learners who are looking towards a career in Accounting. This course aims to provide you with a basic knowledge in book keeping including writing up cash books, day books and double entry book-keeping. This qualification may help you to get a job in an accounting or office environment. If you successfully complete this course you may progress on to AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. Many of our successful Level 1 Book-keeping students progress in this way.
Course Content
This qualification includes the following modules:
- Preparation of invoices and credit notes
- Preparation of day books
- Operation of petty cash system.
- Writing up and reconciliation of cash and bank records
- Double entry book keeping and posting to accounts
Course Assessment
The assessment for this qualification is an external examination at the end of the course.

Materials
All class-based materials will be provided but you will need to provide a calculator, paper and pens.

Progression
This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Accounting or to further study/higher education
Entry Requirements
For entry onto this qualification learners will be asked to take initial assessments in literacy and numeracy and need to achieve Level 1 in both subjects. If you do not achieve level 1 in these assessments we suggest that you take Functional skills Maths and English qualifications before you start this particular course.
