Teacher Training, City & Guilds, Certificate, Level 4

This is a free teaching qualification which is fully funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

This qualification is for those who work or who want to work as teachers/trainers/instructors in the further education and skills sector.

This course is for those who already have some form of teaching, instructing or training as part of their job role. There is no requirement to complete the Level 3 Award in Education and training before commencing this qualification.

This qualification includes a variety of units which look at assessment, planning, using resources, teaching techniques and effective strategies for developing inclusive practice. It covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector, such as:

• Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
• Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training
• Delivering education and training
• Assessing learners in education and training
• Using resources for education and training

The qualification will be assessed by a combination of assignments and three observations of teaching or training.

This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of teaching or to further study/higher education Learners may be able to progress onto the Level 5/6 Cert Ed/PGCE which is a pre-requisite for achieving QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills). Candidates should be qualified/ experienced in the subject they intend to teach, have access to 30 teaching practice hours and possess reasonable levels of language, literacy and numeracy.
