Course Content
As a Performing Arts student we will help you develop the skills, understanding and the attitudes required to succeed as a performer in this competitive industry.

Through weekly technique lessons and performance projects throughout the year, we build your skills in solo and ensemble performance, collaborative theatre making, community performance, Industry knowledge and how to market yourself as a performer and a host of wider skills including problem-solving, creative thinking, communication and resilience.

Singing, dancing and acting have equal focus and you will have many opportunities to integrate these skills in performance. You will develop practical and research skills and will apply the knowledge you gain to produce truthful, creative and professional performances. Areas of teaching include rehearsal and performance skills, vocal technique, movement and jazz, tap and ballet practise and acting technique.

You will be involved in in-house and external performances whilst gaining work experience opportunities in the industry along the way. Our students gain places at leading drama schools across the country. The skills and attitudes you learn on this course are transferable and would be welcomed in many other career paths.





Course Assessment

You will be assessed through a range of practical and written assignments. External moderation of some units is likely. The form of assessment on the course will assist you as you progress either into higher levels of vocational learning or to related academic qualifications.

Materials

You will need a performance uniform to include black movement shorts and trousers (leggings), black t-shirt, leotard, jazz and tap shoes. You will be expected to attend theatre visits as part of your wider theatrical education and costs will vary.

Progression

You could progress onto a specialist musical theatre college or do a Foundation Degree in Musical Theatre, a HNC/HND in performing arts or a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, Acting, Dance or Musical Theatre.

If you want to become a professional dancer, dance teacher, choreographer or West End star than this is the course for you!

We have had many students go on to gain places at prestigious Conservatoires, Dance Schools, Universities and Higher Education Providers.

Entry Requirements

You must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (including English) or a First Diploma Performing Arts at Merit Grade. You will have appropriate experience and each applicant will attend an audition where you are to perform a musical theatre song, a drama monologue and take part in a dance workshop.
