The aim of Automotive Maintenance Award Level1 qualification is designed to provide:
The knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to start a career as a mechanic/technician in the motor vehicle service and repair industry.
Course Content
You will study the following modules:
• Service and repair of automotive vehicles
• Vehicle technologies
• Workshop practice
• Removal and replacement of components
• Work experience and personal and social development.
• Online learning
GCSE/Functional skills: communication and maths.
Course Assessment
You will be assessed through practical assessments and online testing.
Materials
You will need to provide your own stationery and your own safety shoes/boots (with steel toecaps) and overalls. A dress code and workbook are required and will be discussed at interview.
Qualifications
IMI Level 1 Award in Automotive Maintenance
Progression
IMI Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Light Vehicle) Level 2 or an Apprenticeship.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to study for this qualification, but you must demonstrate a genuine interest in this subject, be prepared to follow high standards of behaviour and display a positive attitude to study.
You must be prepared to be working towards GCSE English and GCSE Maths, or a Functional Skill at Entry 3 level or above.
An initial assessment of your English and maths may be required depending on your qualifications to check you have the skills needed to successfully complete this course.
