Course Summary
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is focussing on the practical skills and knowledge required to install, service and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, on successful completion of this qualification the learner will be well equipped to start or progress their career in the refrigeration & air-conditioning industry.
Ideal for anyone working, or wishing to work, in the installation and maintenance of refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems.
This programme offers the benefits of experience at work supported by learning at College, the apprentice will be taught the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours to help them successfully complete the mandatory End point assessment.
Knowledge consists of in-college classes where the apprentice will learn about the principles and practices required in the Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Engineering industry.
Skills will be developed in the workplace with the aid of a company appointed mentor who will help the apprentice learn and improve skills, the apprentice will also have access to an assessor who will support the building of skills in the workplace and in college.

Specialised training in:-
Air conditioning and refrigeration service repair and installation, including practical experience, background theory and technical aspects.
Theoretical and practical training in our state of the art Fujitsu suite
On numerous air conditioning an refrigeration applications and equipment
Functional Skills - English , Maths and ICT if required.
Work based competence proven through a NVQ assessed on site.
Course Assessment
End-point Assessment
(Final 3-6 months) Apprenticeship results and Grading is generated on aggregate of three assessment methods
Knowledge & Skills Test - Multiple choice test marked by End-point Assessment Organisation
Practical Test - 2-3 days of practical tests assessed by Independent Assessor
Professional Interview - supported by the Apprentice Development Journal synopsis and assessed by Independent Assessor
Employer Benefits
Well trained competent staff able to use their skills on the latest modern equipment. Once the apprentice has successfully completed the Standard they will become an Refrigeration and Air Conditioning engineer allowing expansion or additional work for the business.

Qualifications
Apprenticeship leads to NVQ Level 2 or Advanced Apprenticeship leads to NVQ Level 3 and a Technical Certificate plus functional Skills at level 2 .
There are no formal qualifications associated with this standard, but the apprentice will become a fully qualified Refrigeration and Air Conditioning engineer on successful completion of the End Point assessment.
Progression
From Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 you may progress to higher education, professional qualifications or seek promotion opportunities within commercial or domestic applications.
Entry Requirements
You should be 16+ years of age or over and must be in employment at the start of the course.
Learners will need to have maths and english at a grade C or 4 to complete this course.
