Production Arts - Technical Theatre

This course area would suit students interested in the creative process of technical theatre. Students will be trained to a professional standard in the use of stage and theatre-related equipment, whilst working on productions that are staged in our state-of-the-art theatre.

There are many elements to the production arts area and depending on the level of course that you start with us you can look forward to studying many topics inlcuding:

• technical skills in lighting
• stage management skills
• internal and external performances including music gigs, musical theatre, plays, dance and fashion shows.
• work as part of the technical crew for the Evolve Theatre, assisting visiting companies and gaining valuable work experience in a professional working environment.

You will be assessed through a range of practical and written assignments. External moderation of some units is likely. The form of assessment on the course will assist you as you progress either into higher levels of vocational learning or to related academic qualifications.

You will be required to bring a pair of steel toe-capped boots for this qualification and black clothing. There will be an opportunity for work experience at the world’s Largent hire company PRG.

The progression table shows you all of our creative, performance and media subjects along with the levels you are likely to study at depending upon your final GCSE grades. Offers will be made based on your indicated grades and the levels available within the progression table.
