Course Summary

Engineering Operatives working within a fabrication role will typically carry out fabrication/installation of a wide variety of other sheet fabrications and equipment and; fabrication and assembly of metal parts joining techniques; preparing materials and equipment

The aim of this course if to deliver the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviours required to ensure successful completion of the mandatory end point assessment (EPA)
This will typically take place over 15 months plus 3 months of the programme dedicated to the EPA

Individual employers will set the selection criteria for their Apprenticeships.

The apprentice will need to complete the following prior to taking the End Point Assessment
Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills)
Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in Engineering Operations (knowledge)
Apprentices without Level 1 (or equivalent) in English and maths must ensure that apprentices achieve Level 1 and take the test for Level 2

1) Practical observation – to assess the apprentice’s application of skills within the apprentice’s place of work or in a suitable environment
away from the workplace (e.g. In a centre approved by the EPAO)
2) Professional discussion – to holistically assess KSBs across the standard and will be informed by reflective portfolio

Course Content

Course Assessment

The EPA consists of 2 assessment methods:-
1) Practical observation – to assess the apprentice’s application of skills within the apprentice’s place of work or in a suitable environment
away from the workplace (e.g. In a centre approved by the EPAO)
2) Professional discussion – to holistically assess KSBs across the standard and will be informed by reflective portfolio

Materials

There are no costs for materials for this apprenticeship, the apprentice will need access to a PC/Laptop either at home or at work to complete any assignments and homework.

Qualifications

Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (competence)
and
Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in Engineering Operations (knowledge)

Progression

Successful apprentices can go on to level 3 or level 4 engineering apprenticeships such as
Engineering technician Level 3

Entry Requirements
