Science

If you are natural inquisitive, have eye for detail and analytical mind, studying an applied science course can lead you to a rewarding and dynamic career. From searching for cures to diseases to sending people into space, exploring the cells in a living body to investigating a crime scene, science is an incredibly exciting and far-reaching industry.

Our science courses will develop and expand your skills across Biology, Chemistry and Physics and will give you an insight into the varied roles of the industry. All of our science courses offer opportunities to progress to university level or into employment in the science sector.

Our science department offers you the opportunity to study in purpose-built laboratory facilities, supporting the development of your general and specialist practical skills, whilst enhancing your theoretical understanding of science.

Throughout the course you will be supported by our dedicated tutors who will bring learning to life and develop your study and research skills to help your learning as well as providing extra help and support if you need it to help you get the grades you need for whatever you want to do in the future.

SEND

Our supported learning programmes are developed for students with learning difficulties and offer a progression route to help prepare students for life after their studies.

During their studies, students will gain a broad range of skills, in areas such as English, maths, computing, personal development and employability. Our entry level courses include work placements or realistic work simulations, designed in partnership with local employers, ensuring students gain valuable, practical experience.

We offer small and supportive learning groups, with a comprehensive range of support programmes. Support Assistants are an integral part of each class, and students benefit from discrete teaching areas at the Aspire campuses in Dudley or Brierley Hill. All tutor groups have a dedicated personal tutor, who is the main link between home and other staff at the College and the first point of contact regarding a students’ academic achievement and personal welfare.

Many students progress from supported learning programmes onto other mainstream College courses, whilst others may move onto employability courses. With a dedicated support network, we can help students of all abilities develop personally and achieve their goals.

Teaching & Assessing

Our dedicated tutors have experience working in various fields of education and training including primary, secondary and further education. If you are currently teaching or wish to move into this sector, our courses will help you to enhance your skills, reflect on current ideas and resourcefully investigate the professional opportunities open to you.

Our courses are designed for teaching in the Education and Training Sector, including further education, higher and adult education, sixth form, youth and community services, health and uniformed services, private and training organisations.

Travel & Tourism

What comes to mind when you think of working in travel and tourism? Travel agents, cabin crew, club reps and day trips? This is an industry that encourages you to travel but there is more to this industry than you first think.

Studying travel can lead to a career in a vast range of businesses, including: hotels, health spas, galleries, museums, heritage sites (eg National Trust), theme parks and visitor attractions, ports, airports, transport stations and even cruise ships.

The travel industry is exciting but it is also hard work and you will need to be prepared to work as a team, be organised with your workload and deal with some challenging customers. You will learn a range of transferrable skills including; customer service, event planning and problem solving in emergency situations. Our courses will prepare you with the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to thrive in this diverse and exciting industry.
