Access to HE

If you want to study for a university-level course but don’t have the necessary qualifications, then our Access to Higher Education (HE) courses could be a great choice for you!

Access courses are specifically designed for adults aged 19+ returning to education. We fully support and understand that people return to education for all kinds of reasons, which is why we have courses to suit a variety of needs.

At Dudley College, our Access to HE courses are a one year fast-track route to degree-level study and are tailored to specific careers like law or nursing, or cover broader areas including science, social sciences and business.

It is our goal to help you begin your journey to a new career and we do all we can to ensure that the transition to full-time education runs as smoothly for you as possible.

We create a relaxed environment for all our students, as we believe that this helps inspire learning. You will have the chance to join like-minded people on our Access courses, in a mature environment with supportive tutors.

On top of all this, when you do take the next step into higher education, we offer many degree-level qualifications right here at our College. So, this means that if you choose to stay at Dudley College, you’ll be learning in a supportive, familiar environment. However, if you decide to go to university instead, we’ll help you with your application.

There’s no need to worry if do not meet the entry criteria as we may be able to offer you a Pre-Access programme. This allows students to study GCSEs in English and Maths as well as a relevant subject qualification, which will prepare you for an Access to HE course.

Funding

If you’re aged 19-23 and it’s your first full Level 3 course, then you may not have to pay fees for an Access to HE Diploma. If not, or if you are 24+, you may be able to get help with the cost of your Access to HE course fees through a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan.

Art & Design

Covering a vast range of skills and talents, studying a higher level art and design qualification will help you turn your creative passion into a money-making career. Construction

Around 3 million people work in construction in the UK, making it one of the nation’s biggest and most diverse industries! This Construction HNC prepares you for further higher education qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree, or a career in the construction industry. There are many changes happening in the construction industry that are creating more opportunities for construction students.

Previous students have gone on to work in areas including management of construction projects and construction design. You can also use your Construction HNC to get entry to higher-level professional construction courses in subjects such as: quantity surveying, construction management, building surveying, property management and architectural design.

Art and design at Dudley College offers you the exciting opportunity to develop and realise your creative ideas and concepts in a visual form. In gaining advanced skills across a range of artistic fields, you will be well prepared to consider employment in a variety of roles and professions. The courses will introduce you to a wide variety of artistic disciplines and a range of visual communication design, enabling you to find an area you are passionate about to specialise in.

The art and design facilities are spread across four levels of the Evolve campus. The glass and ceramic studio is fully equipped with kilns and furnaces, whilst the top floor is home to all the art and design disciplines the college offers. A photographic studio, video editing suite and darkrooms give media students full access to a myriad of exciting equipment to support their studies. The screen printing, fashion and textiles area has lots of natural light, large work tables and specialist wet and dry areas while those studying graphics and game design will use the Apple Macs studios and industry recognised software to build up their skills and knowledge.
