This role is the opportunity for the right person to join the friendly team at Nikal Steeks as a trainee Machine Operative, developing practical skills in a supportive production environment. You will learn machine operation and setup while carrying out routine machine care and working safely to high-quality standards.

As a Machining Apprentice, you will be trained to work in a modern manufacturing environment, producing precision-engineered components for world-leading food packaging machinery. You will learn how to operate CNC and manual machines, carry out inspections, and ensure all components meet Ishida’s high-quality and safety standards.

As a Fabricator Technician Apprentice, you will develop the skills required to manufacture and assemble metal components and structures to exact specifications. You will work with a variety of materials and fabrication techniques, ensuring all work meets Ishida’s high standards of quality, safety, and precision.

This is a hands‑on role for someone starting their career in mechanical manufacturing. You’ll learn how a machine shop operates and develop practical skills.You’ll be trained to work from engineering drawings, operate manual milling and turning machines, and use measuring tools to check components during production. 

This role supports the reliability and performance of manufacturing equipment through planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and improvement activity. The role involves applying engineering knowledge to maintain machinery, respond to breakdowns, and work closely with production teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

This role is responsible for monitoring and supporting manufacturing processes and production lines to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent operation. The role involves applying manufacturing engineering knowledge to identify process issues, support problem‑solving activities and contribute to continuous improvement.

This role focuses on ensuring that components meet required safety, performance and regulatory standards alongside ensuring that production process follow strict quality procedures ensuring reliability, customer satisfaction and compliance with industry standards.

This role supports the development, testing, and validation of manufacturing components and processes. The role involves setting up and supporting testing activities, contributing to design changes, carrying out inspections, and applying engineering problem‑solving to improve quality, cost, and performance.

The company’s 3 year apprenticeship programme in electrical/electronic engineering provides an excellent opportunity to gain work-based training, whilst studying towards a recognised vocational qualification (Level 4 HNC) and other relevant technical certificates, as well as the possibility of progressing on to further qualifications.

Being a part of a small, close knit team, who specialize in bespoke aluminum alloy wheel manufacturing. Learning to program, set and operate CNC turning and milling machines. Changing tools and jaws, reading technical drawings.

As an Apprentice at Ian Williams, you’ll learn on the job, gaining hands‑on experience while studying at college. You’ll be supported by experienced tradespeople, including your own dedicated mentor, and work towards mastering your chosen trade.
