What will Apprentices Learn?

Apprentices develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and professional behaviours required to perform high-quality plastering work safely and efficiently.

Training combines workplace experience, practical learning, technical instruction and structured off-the-job training, enabling apprentices to apply their learning directly to workplace projects.

The programme is delivered on a day release basis.

  • Dry lining principles and techniques
  • Applying plaster finishes

  • Fixing and jointing plasterboard
  • Repair and restoration of existing plasterwork

Professional Skills Development

The apprenticeship focuses on developing occupational competence through practical workplace experience and technical training.

Apprentices build confidence working with a wide range of plastering materials, systems and techniques while developing important professional behaviours such as effective communication, teamwork, self-motivation and attention to detail.

The programme supports the development of versatile plasterers capable of working across multiple areas of the construction industry.

Entry Requirements

Apprentices should be employed in a suitable role that allows them to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the occupational standard.

Apprentices should also hold a grade 3 or equivalent in both GCSE English and maths.

Apprentices may be required to work towards English and maths qualifications as part of their apprenticeship where appropriate. We will provide advice on the requirements that apply to your apprentice and support them throughout their learning journey.

How is the Apprentice Assessed?

Apprentices are assessed throughout the programme through practical workplace activities, reviews, observations and evidence of skills development.

The End-Point Assessment (EPA) consists of:

• Knowledge Test
• Practical Skills Test
• Professional Discussion

Each element is independently assessed and designed to demonstrate occupational competence in real-world plastering activities.
