Growth & Skills Strategy

We’re building the skills that power growth

At Dudley College of Technology, we believe skills are one of the most powerful drivers of economic growth, business success and social mobility.

That’s why we’ve launched our new Growth & Skills Strategy 2026–2029 – an ambitious plan that strengthens our partnership with employers, supports workforce development and helps build a stronger, more resilient Black Country economy.

Developed alongside employers and regional stakeholders, the strategy sets out how we will respond to changing workforce needs, emerging technologies and new opportunities for growth. Over the next three years, we will focus our efforts on five priority sectors:

  • Advanced Manufacturing & Automotive
  • Construction & Building Services
  • Health
  • Professional Services
  • Digital & Creative

while continuing to support the skills needs of the wider everyday economy.

We will place employers at the heart of what we do, working together to design training, develop talent pipelines and create flexible opportunities for upskilling and reskilling. At the same time, we will champion the skills that matter most for the future, including digital innovation, AI, sustainability, leadership and employability.

Diana Martin, CEO and Principal, said: “Our ambition is simple: to ensure that businesses can access the skills they need to grow and that local people can access the opportunities they need to succeed.

“This strategy reflects our commitment to working in partnership with employers to develop talent, support innovation and drive sustainable growth across the Black Country. Together, we can create a future-ready workforce and a stronger regional economy.”
