Adult Care Workers support people in a wide variety of care environments and work closely with service users, families and multidisciplinary professionals to improve outcomes and quality of life.

What will Apprentices Learn?

Apprentices develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care.

Training combines workplace learning, professional coaching, observations, discussions and portfolio development, enabling apprentices to apply their learning directly within their care setting.

The programme is delivered in the employer’s premises.

Programme content includes:

  • Person-centred care and support
  • Respecting rights, dignity and choice
  • Communication and relationship building
  • Safeguarding adults
  • Health, safety and wellbeing
  • Promoting independence
  • Supporting nutrition and personal care
  • Mental health awareness
  • Professional values and behaviours
  • Record keeping and reporting
  • Working effectively within care teams
  • Supporting individuals to achieve personal outcomes

Apprentices learn how to support adults with a range of needs while promoting independence, wellbeing and quality of life.

Learning combines expert support with practical experience, helping apprentices contribute positively to care provision from day one.

We'll work closely with you to ensure training aligns with both organisational needs and individual development goals.

Qualifications included

A key benefit of this apprenticeship is the inclusion of recognised care qualifications. Apprentices will achieve:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Care
  • Care Certificate
  • English and Maths qualifications where required

These qualifications help ensure apprentices develop the knowledge and competence required to work effectively within adult care settings.

Entry Requirements

Apprentices should be employed in a suitable role that allows them to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the occupational standard.

Apprentices should also hold a grade 3 or equivalent in both GCSE English and maths.

Apprentices may be required to work towards English and maths qualifications as part of their apprenticeship where appropriate. We will provide advice on the requirements that apply to your apprentice and support them throughout their learning journey.

How is the Apprentice Assessed?

Apprentices are assessed throughout the programme through workplace observations, professional discussions, portfolio evidence and ongoing reviews.

Following completion of the required qualifications and programme requirements, apprentices undertake their apprenticeship assessment requirements to demonstrate occupational competence.

Assessment activities are designed to reflect real workplace practice and confirm the apprentice can safely and effectively perform within their role.
