Course Summary

This course has been designed for students with a learning difficulty or disability who have a passion to work with a wide range of animals. It aims to prepare learners to gain essential skills in preparation for the world of work and to obtain a greater understanding of the needs of animals.
This course is a natural progression from Step Up course at entry level 2 and gives students the opportunity to study similar subjects at a higher level.

Course Content

The course consists of a full or part day at Brockswood Animal Sanctuary in Sedgley, where the majority of practical assessments take place and the remaining sessions delivered in a classroom based setting, at Broadway Campus.

Portfolio of evidence.

Materials

Students will be required to purchase:
• Navy blue overalls which can be purchased through college, most markets or online.
• Black steel toe-capped boots.
• A water- proof jacket.
• Washable gardening gloves with an elasticated cuff.
• Long warm socks.
• Suitable, comfortable clothing.

Qualifications

Learners should achieve – City and Guilds Land Based Studies Entry 3 Certificate.
Functional Skills English and Maths.

Entry Requirements

All learners will need to be working towards E3 Functional Skills for English and Maths, be able and willing to work outside in all weathers and have a passion for the welfare of animals.
