Course Summary
There is an array of creative careers across the world and our range of courses allow you to explore your own creativity in a range of disciplines and a vast choice of products and techniques. Our creative courses provide you with the opportunity to explore a variety of practical materials and processes, and learn about artists, designers and crafts people Educational visits will form an integral part of the curriculum, as they are vital to broadening experience of design and culture. Some of our most recent excursions have included: Madrid, Berlin, Barcelona and New York. As you progress with us we also provide dedicated sessions to investigate and define HIgher education pathways and career options.
Course Content
There are many elements to the photography area and depending on the level of course that you start with us you can look forward to studying a range of toipics with us. Photography includes a strong emphasis in specialist image-making skills and techniques, opportunities for developing a personal style and guidance in producing a unique portfolio of commercial as well as artistic images, based around several units and projects, including areas such as documentary, darkroom, portraiture, fashion, advertising, etc.
Photographic assignments are set designed to reflect workplace situations, activities and demands. Core units are supported by specialist photography units such as location techniques, studio techniques, darkroom practice and image manipulation using computer applications.
On the successful completion of these units, you will have the basic building blocks to further your skills in year 2, where you will have time to explore in more depth specialist specific areas of photography like documentary, advertising, fashion, etc. You will work on more extensive self-directed projects with a view to building a portfolio for university or job interviews whilst preparing for a final year exhibition.
