This qualification looks to develop the knowledge, skills and competence of those working in a wide range of roles in the health and social care sector. The purpose of the qualification is to support a role in the workplace with the option of learners progressing to a higher level qualification in the same subject area. This qualification is ideal for anyone looking to pursue a career in the health and social care industry in care roles within residential settings, domiciliary services or day care services.
The qualification aims to prepare learners who are looking towards a career in Health & Social Care. It serves as the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirements in the social care sector in England. It aims to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce.
These qualifications confirm competence in areas of health and social care where appropriate.
Course Content

Progression
This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Health & Social Care or to further study/higher education this includes the level 3 adult care for senior practitioner roles in Health & Social Care, or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they work.

Course Assessment
The assessments for this qualification are mainly a portfolio of work. Other evidence will include practical observations and Q&A discussions.

Qualification
On successful completion of this course students will be awarded a Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care. This qualification has been accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework . This is a Level 2 Diploma and has 46 credits.
Employer Benefits
Note: This qualification leads to employment with vulnerable groups of people. Applicants are required to have a clear Police Record and have Police Clearance before embarking on the programme. DBS form available via the College. Employers are required to employ staff who have clean records. There may be exceptions to this where minor non-relevant offences are on record. However, any offence may create difficulties in gaining employment in this field of work.
Entry Requirements
For entry onto this qualification learners must have had at least 1 months experience in a health and social care setting before we can enrol you on the course. You should have Literacy and Numeracy skills at Level 1. You will need to have an initial assessment at your interview.
You must be in a job role (paid or unpaid). You must be in a placement for a minimum of 12 hours per week and be sufficiently literate for your job role.
