On Thursday evening before half–term, we hosted our second Employer Excellence Awards at the Black Country Living Museum.
Taking place during T Levels Week, the event celebrated the outstanding contributions of our employer partners – particularly those individuals and organisations who go above and beyond to support our students by offering T Level placements, internships and work experience opportunities or are training their apprentices with us. The evening showcased the vital role employers play in developing the technical skills and nurturing the talent of our learners, with award winners from all sectors.
Guests arrived to a warm welcome, enjoying a drinks reception and buffet, accompanied by an acoustic performance from Giles and Sully, a talented local vocalist and guitar duo.
Our MC for the evening was Emma Jesson, longstanding ITV Weather presenter, who opened the ceremony and guided us through the evening’s proceedings.
During the course of the evening guests heard from Susanne Davies, who spoke about the vital partnerships between the college and our employers in working together to train the regional workforce. She recognised the challenges businesses face and highlighted the importance of continuing to invest in people, calling on the employers to do “one more thing” in support of their workforce development strategy.
Anne Boyd, Director of Growth & Place at Dudley Council, also spoke about the strong relationship between Dudley College of Technology and Dudley Council, highlighting the vital role employers can play in developing a skilled workforce within Dudley.
