Course Summary
This course offers the opportunity for adults to study a full GCSE in Physics following the AQA specification. This course is suitable for adults wishing to gain a qualification in Physics that may be a requirement for other careers such as teaching or other scientific routes. It can be studied alongside GCSE Biology / Chemistry as well. Also, when studied along side maths and English GCSE an ideal outcome will be the student gaining 5 GCSEs for entry onto level 3 courses.
Course Content
The GCSE Physics course includes the following subjects:-
1. Energy
2. Electricity
3. Particle model of matter
4. Atomic structure
5. Forces
6. Waves
7. Magnetism and electromagnetism
8. Space physics (physics only)
This course is delivered in one 3 hour session per week from September through untill the exams in May.
Course Assessment
This course is examined at the end of the year in May and June with two exams, both 1hr 45mins each.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion you will achieve a GCSE grade from 1 to 9 in chemistry.
Progression
Learners completing this course often go on to careers in health, education and science fields
Entry Requirements
This course is ideally suited for learners that are working towards or already have their GCSE in maths and English.

Funding may be available to support your learning as an adult (aged 19+) studying at Dudley College in the following circumstances:
- If the course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and they have given us permission to offer it at no cost to you and live in the WMCA area.
- If the course is part of the ‘Free Courses for Jobs’ government scheme and you are unemployed or working for a low wage.
- If the course is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) / WMCA and you meet certain criteria (such as this being the first qualification of this type and level you are studying, or unemployed, or working for a low wage).
Your personal circumstances and the funding available to you will be discussed at enrolment, if would useful if you bring evidence including proof of income / benefits; proof of age (i.e. driving licence); prior qualifications.
English & Maths: If you have not previously achieved GCSE grade C or above in English and/or maths, you can study these for free.
