Course Summary
The Level 3 Technical Specialist in Diagnosing, Rectifying and Recalibrating Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Components (Award) is designed for experienced automotive technicians who wish to develop specialist knowledge and practical skills in working with modern vehicle driver assistance technologies.
This qualification focuses on the diagnosis, repair and recalibration of ADAS components, which are increasingly common in modern vehicles. Learners will gain an in-depth understanding of the systems that support vehicle safety and driver assistance, including cameras, radar and sensor technologies.
The course combines advanced technical theory with practical workshop application, enabling technicians to work confidently and safely with manufacturer-approved procedures and industry standards.

Course Assessment

Learners must demonstrate both technical understanding and the ability to carry out accurate recalibration processes in line with industry requirements.
Materials
Students will be required to have:
• Safety boots and appropriate workshop clothing
• Basic stationery for classroom-based learning
All specialist diagnostic and ADAS calibration equipment will be provided by the college.
Qualifications

Entry Requirements
Applicants will normally need:
• A Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent)
• Relevant industry experience as a qualified technician
• A solid understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems
Applicants may be invited to attend an interview to confirm suitability and prior experience.

- If the course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and they have given us permission to offer it at no cost to you and live in the WMCA area.
- If the course is part of the ‘Free Courses for Jobs’ government scheme and you are unemployed or working for a low wage.
- If the course is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) / WMCA and you meet certain criteria (such as this being the first qualification of this type and level you are studying, or unemployed, or working for a low wage).

English & Maths: If you have not previously achieved GCSE grade C or above in English and/or maths, you can study these for free.
