Course Summary
You will gain a more detailed knowledge and understanding in the set-up, programming and operation of Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated equipment.
Course Content
This course is a project-based industrial scenario.
PLC-controlled industrial equipment has been obtained however it is unprogrammed and without documentation.
The learners will identify how the equipment operates, and research and program the equipment within set technical and safety criteria.
During the course, tasks are set for the learners to incrementally improve the function of the systems for example: reduce process time, add quality checks, add safety features, add error checking, add process indication and implement a communication link to another PLC.
Content covered:
• Using pre-built FESTO MPS loading and conveyor stations - from first principles identify the inputs and outputs on an unknown piece of equipment
• Create planning documentation to assist in programming the equipment
• Write PLC programs in Ladder Logic to operate a FESTO MPS conveyor/sorting system and undertake incremental improvements to meet given technical and safety specifications
• Document the final program(s) to aid future development
Qualifications
You will receive a competency certificate on completion of your course.
Entry Requirements
Learners should have completed the PLC 1 course, or have a working knowledge of PLCs and Ladder Logic programming.
