Course Summary
This 8-week course provides participants with foundational knowledge and practical skills in painting and decorating. The course is designed for beginners and covers both theoretical and hands-on aspects of painting and decorating. In addition, the course includes integrated information, advice, and guidance on setting up and running a painting and decorating business. Career pathways within the painting and decorating industry will also be explored.
Course Content
1.Understand the basics of painting and decorating, including materials, tools, and techniques.
2.Develop practical skills in surface preparation, painting, and wallpapering.
3.Learn how to repair and finish painted and decorated surfaces.
4.Gain knowledge of health and safety practices in painting and decorating.
5.Receive ongoing guidance on setting up and managing a painting and decorating business.
6.Explore career pathways within the painting and decorating industry.
Course Assessment
There are no examinations for this course just a portfolio of evidence cerated throighout the course.
Materials
You will be required to provide/wear steel toe capped boots/shoes, a hi vis jacket will be provided.

No previous knowledge or qualification required.

Funding may be available to support your learning as an adult (aged 19+) studying at Dudley College in the following circumstances:
- If the course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and they have given us permission to offer it at no cost to you and live in the WMCA area.
- If the course is part of the ‘Free Courses for Jobs’ government scheme and you are unemployed or working for a low wage.
- If the course is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) / WMCA and you meet certain criteria (such as this being the first qualification of this type and level you are studying, or unemployed, or working for a low wage).
Your personal circumstances and the funding available to you will be discussed at enrolment, if would useful if you bring evidence including proof of income / benefits; proof of age (i.e. driving licence); prior qualifications.
English & Maths: If you have not previously achieved GCSE grade C or above in English and/or maths, you can study these for free.
