
Course Summary
This qualification is designed solely for those persons who are, or have been, working in the Electrical industry, practicing as an Electrician, for a minimum of three years and who can demonstrate their technical knowledge, performance and competence to the industry standards at Level 3 and would like to gain a formal qualification in the Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker route.
In order to successfully complete this qualification, the learner must satisfy the component parts of the scheme, namely:
1) The assessment of job knowledge as specified within each unit of the qualification.
2) Evidence from the workplace that demonstrates competence against the performance criteria within each unit of the qualification.
Evidence against the performance criteria of each unit must be provided on two separate occasions with any evidence requirements (range statements) covered across the two occasions.
Assessment of performance should be carried out holistically using a range of approved assessment methods (e.g. reflective account, witness testimony, professional discussion, authenticated and verified photographs).
Additionally, the centre assessor must observe the learner on at least two separate occasions as part of the evidence gathering process.
Please note that this qualification, plus a current industry recognised Level 3 Award in the requirements for electrical installations (BS 7671) or equivalent, and a current industry recognised Level 3 qualification in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations or equivalent, must be completed within 18 months period to allow application for AM2ED.

Unit 102 Apply health, safety and environmental considerations in dwellings
Unit 106 Plan and oversee the electrical work activities in dwellings
Unit 109 Apply design and installation practices including termination and connection of conductors in dwellings
Unit 113 Inspect, test, report and commission electrical systems in dwellings
Unit 115 Apply fault diagnosis and rectification in dwellings
Course Assessment
The 2347 is assessed by producing a portfolio of evidence and 2 observations within the workplace, Once 2347 has been completed and both C&G 2391-52 and C&G 2382-26 are completed then you will be require to complete the AM2ED
The AM2ED is a robust, timed practical and theory assessment requiring candidates to perform a set of common tasks and procedures that a full scope electrical operative might face when working in commercial or industrial premises as well as dwellings. It assesses candidates on installation, inspection and testing and fault-finding; their work must comply with BS 7671, be in line with relevant Health and Safety legislation and conform to current industry practices and procedures.
Qualifications
To achieve the City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification learners must also complete the following:
• a current Level 3 Award in the requirements for electrical installations (BS 7671)
• a current Level 3 Level 3 qualification in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations or equivalent.
These may be taken in advance of registering on the 2347-03 or may be taken in tandem with the 2347-03 but these must be completed before claiming certification for the 2347-03
Progression
Learners who successfully complete the Experienced Worker Qualification as well as the occupational competence assessment (AM2ED), delivered by NET, will be judged to have met the eligibility requirements sufficient to apply for an ECS Card from the JIB in the occupation that they have qualified with the appropriate grading.
Entry Requirements
A pre-requisite to registering on the EWA is having knowledge and understanding that is comparable to the Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification. Learners must hold a Level 2 qualification detailed in the list below. Where learners do not hold Level 3 technical certificate, their knowledge and understanding will be probed through the Skills Scan.
You must be able to a demonstrate minimum of 3 years working as an electrician in dwellings not including any training periods. It is not suitable for new entrants to the industry.
The following is a list of accepted qualifications from the EAS Qualifications Guide. You may hold a relevant L2 VRQ qualification. These will partially count towards the knowledge and understanding requirements so please note these on the list.

Funding may be available to support your learning as an adult (aged 19+) studying at Dudley College in the following circumstances:
- If the course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and they have given us permission to offer it at no cost to you and live in the WMCA area.
- If the course is part of the ‘Free Courses for Jobs’ government scheme and you are unemployed or working for a low wage.
- If the course is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) / WMCA and you meet certain criteria (such as this being the first qualification of this type and level you are studying, or unemployed, or working for a low wage).
Your personal circumstances and the funding available to you will be discussed at enrolment, if would useful if you bring evidence including proof of income / benefits; proof of age (i.e. driving licence); prior qualifications.
English & Maths: If you have not previously achieved GCSE grade C or above in English and/or maths, you can study these for free.
