Course Summary

This course offers the development of skills in Software Development and will
prepare learners to:
• progress to a qualification in the same sector or a related area at a higher level
• gain employment within different roles in the digital and creative industries and in other industries that require specific digital and IT skills within Software Development.

This course is delivered for 4 hours per week online for 34 weeks term time only. In addition to this all learners are required to undertake 2.6 hours of independent study every week for 52 weeks of the year, or 4 hours over 34 weeks.
The course has been developed in collaboration with and supported by the Code Institute.

This course is suitable for anyone who is considering a career in IT Software Developer or those who are looking to upskill and already work in a similar role.

This qualification is designed to open you up to a career in technology and provide you with the skills and confidence to apply for one of the tens of thousands of unfilled vacancies in technology advertised in UK every week.

Course Assessment

You will be assessed through coursework for both practical and theoretical elements. This may include presentations, portfolios and classwork and is graded at Pass / Not yet achieved.

Materials

Digital equipment including computers, software and cameras will be required for you to join online sessions and be able to conduct independent study.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of experience in the work place within IT or an academic or professional qualification in IT . All candidates should have English and maths at level 2 (GCSE grade 4/C) or equivalent to ensure they can follow the programme.
You also must successfully complete the Coding Challenge Initial assessment to be considered for the programme.
Once you have applied and taken the Coding Challenge, you will be contacted by the college to discuss your application.
