Course Summary
This qualification is aimed at those that have completed a Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation and have achieved the Initial Inspection & Testing qualification. You must also be able to demonstrate experience of carrying out Initial verification in the workplace.
This qualification helps you to develop your skills required to carry out periodic inspection and testing on electrical installations and the completion of condition reports. The course covers legislation, inspection and testing techniques, completing and issuing certificates and understanding of results and measurements.
The courses is offered evenings, one evening per week for approximately 14 weeks.
Course Content
Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations
• Understand the requirements for periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations
• Understand safety management procedures when undertaking periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations
• Understand the requirements for the periodic inspection of an electrical installation
• Understand the requirements for testing electrical installations during periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations
• Perform periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations
There will be no practical workshops as the expectation is you already understand the fundamentals of inspection and testing having previously undertaken Initial Verification.

Progression
This course allows candidates to progress into employment or to the following City & Guilds qualifications:
• City & Guilds Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations (2396)
Entry Requirements
Achieved the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation Building and Structures, have achieved the Initial Verification qualification and be able to demonstrate experience of Inspection & Testing in the workplace upon completing your Initial Verification qualification. This will be assessed through professional discussion. You may also be requested to undertake a BKSB English assessment to ensure that you are able to read and understand the technical terminology.
