Course Summary

The CMI course is aimed at practising middle managers who wish to develop their core management skills and practices.

The programme will develop your knowledge and understanding of the practical areas of management and raise awareness of human and financial issues found in modern organisations. The flexible and accessible programme offers a choice of standalone units that meet the managerial demands of the region.

This course is delivered online.


Course Content

For the CMI Award (4 credits) you may select 1 unit from the options below, for the CMI Certificate (13 credits) 2 to 3 units and for the Diploma (37 credits) 7 units:

Course Assessment

The assessments for this qualification are practical work-based assignments. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.

Materials

All class-based materials will be provided.

Qualifications

You will be awarded CMI a Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management on successful completion of your chosen unit assignment.

Progression

This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Business Management or to further study/higher education.

Entry Requirements

For entry onto this qualification learners will be practising or aspiring middle managers with good literacy and numeracy skills. Candidates should ideally have a minimum of two years’ experience in a middle management position and a minimum of a level 3 qualification in management and/or leadership.

Funding may be available to support your learning as an adult (aged 19+) studying at Dudley College in the following circumstances:

  • If the course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and they have given us permission to offer it at no cost to you and live in the WMCA area.
  • If the course is part of the ‘Free Courses for Jobs’ government scheme and you are unemployed or working for a low wage.
  • If the course is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) / WMCA and you meet certain criteria (such as this being the first qualification of this type and level you are studying, or unemployed, or working for a low wage).

Your personal circumstances and the funding available to you will be discussed at enrolment, if would useful if you bring evidence including proof of income / benefits; proof of age (i.e. driving licence); prior qualifications.

English & Maths: If you have not previously achieved GCSE grade C or above in English and/or maths, you can study these for free.
