Course Summary
Students will develop both electrical installation practical skills and knowledge to the industry standard.
This qualification prepares learners who are looking towards a career in Electrical Installation as an electrician / electrical engineer.
The qualification is an integral part of the recognised electrical training routes. These training routes are available on the Electrical Careers website, see below weblink for further information. You will not be a fully qualified electrician with this standalone qualification.

Course Content
This qualification includes the following modules:
• Health and Safety in building services engineering
• Understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems
• Electrical installations technology
• Principles of electrical science
• Electrical installations: fault diagnosis and rectification
• Electrical installations: inspection, testing and commissioning
• Electrical systems design
• Career awareness in building services engineering.

Successful learners will become fully compliant to regulations and competent in Electrical Installations.
With the level 2 and level 3 qualification, there is potential to be awarded the first 2 years of the City & Guilds 5357 Electrical Apprenticeship.
Materials
All class-based materials will be provided but you will need to provide relevant books, which will be identified by your course tutor. You will also need to provide safety shoes for any workshop sessions, at an approximate cost of £15.00. In addition to this, you will need to provide a hi-vis, at an approximate cost of £5.00.

Progression
This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Electrical Installation or to further study. Learners will be able to progress to the following courses:
• City & Guilds 5357 Electrical Apprenticeship studying at Level 3
• HNC in Building Services or Electrical Electronic Engineering
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
• City & Guilds 2919 Electric Vehicle Charging
• City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition
Entry Requirements
For entry onto this qualification learners must have:
• City & Guilds 2365 Level 2
• City & Guilds 2330 Level 2
• GCSE grade 4 in Maths & English
Requirement to complete BKSB Initial Assessments at level 1 for Maths and English at the start of the course

Funding may be available to support your learning as an adult (aged 19+) studying at Dudley College in the following circumstances:
- If the course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and they have given us permission to offer it at no cost to you and live in the WMCA area.
- If the course is part of the ‘Free Courses for Jobs’ government scheme and you are unemployed or working for a low wage.
- If the course is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) / WMCA and you meet certain criteria (such as this being the first qualification of this type and level you are studying, or unemployed, or working for a low wage).
Your personal circumstances and the funding available to you will be discussed at enrolment, if would useful if you bring evidence including proof of income / benefits; proof of age (i.e. driving licence); prior qualifications.
English & Maths: If you have not previously achieved GCSE grade C or above in English and/or maths, you can study these for free.
