Course Summary
This course offers a 10 week experience to explore cyber security threats and vulnerabilities, cyber defence techniques and incident response. You will explore fundamental principles as well as leading-edge concepts, terminologies, models and hardening methods. You will assess the types of malicious activity and potential targets, and the role everyone has in maintaining cyber resilience
This course is delivered for 3 hours per week face to face for 10 weeks, term time only. In addition to this all learners are required to undertake 2 hours per week of independent study.
This course is suitable for anyone who is considering a career in IT with a particular interest in cyber security.
This qualification is designed to open you up to a career in technology and provide you with the skills and confidence to apply for one of the tens of thousands unfilled vacancies in technology advertised in the UK every week.
Course Content
• Explore the nature of cybercrime and cyber threat actors
• Investigate cyber security threats and hazards
• Examine the effectiveness of information assurance concepts applied to ICT infrastructure
• Investigate incident response methods to cyber security threats
Course Assessment
You will be assessed through classwork with an expectation that this will be completed in your own time out of lesson.
Materials
Digital equipment including computers and software will be provide for use in lessons. It is recommended that you have access to a computer to complete any work or research in your own time.
Qualifications
You will achieve a college certificate for the completion of Cyber Security Level 4
Progression
Students completing this course usually go on to further study in one of our other Level 4 short courses, CompTIA courses or L3 Software Development, L5 Web Application Development. All courses are available on our website.
Applications to university can be made as adults however, this course is designed to support employment and progression in career roles.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of experience in the work place within IT or an academic qualification in IT / professional qualification in IT.
