Course Summary
This course offers the opportunity for adults to study a full GCSE in biology following the AQA specification. This course is suitable for adults wishing to gain a qualification in biology that may be a requirement for other careers such as teaching or nursing. It can be studied alongside GCSE Chemistry as well. Also, when studied along side maths and English GCSE an ideal outcome will be the student gaining 4 GCSEs for entry onto level 3 courses.
Course Content
The GCSE Biology covers content in the following areas:-
1. Cell biology
2. Organisation
3. Infection and response
4. Bioenergetics
5. Homeostasis and response
6. Inheritance, variation and evolution
7. Ecology
Course Assessment
This course is examined at the end of the year in May and June with two exams, both 1hr 45mins each.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion you will achieve a GCSE grade from 1 to 9 in biology.
Progression
Learners completing this course often go on to careers in health and education.

This course is ideally suited for learners that are working towards their GCSE in maths and English.
