Nick Thompson

Nick was appointed as a Staff Governor following his election by the college’s Support Staff in November 2022. He joined Dudley College of Technology in May 2016 and currently holds the position of Head of Employer Engagement with responsibility for Dudley College and the Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology. Nick graduated from the University of London with a Degree in Modern History and prior to joining the College worked in recruitment for 22 years, the last 16 running his own business as an Executive Search Consultant, predominantly in the fashion industry. Nick was awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Recruitment professionals in 1996 and was recognised as a Chartered Manager in 2021, this achieved through an apprenticeship programme completed at college.  Nick is responsible for ensuring that employers can access the award-winning vocational skills training provided by the college and the IoT. The team he leads ensures that the partners of the college can access the funding and incentives available to support the skills of their existing staff and also to enable them to hire new staff through the College’s free recruitment service.  He serves on the Corporation’s Finance and Estates Committee.
