Course Summary
This qualification aims to provide informed and prepared potential recruits. It will enable learners to prepare to make a recruitment application or provide a basis for further study and progression towards the entry qualification of a specific service. It provides learners with an insight into the practical qualities they require, not only for uniformed services, but also for employment in general.
It aims to:
• Provide an opportunity for candidates with an interest in a uniformed service to explore this area of employment in a practical way.
• Provide informed and prepared potential recruits for a variety of uniformed services.
• Develop candidates skills and personal qualities in preparation for all areas of employment.
• Provide a basis for further study and motivation towards career development.
• Provide an opportunity for candidates to develop problem-solving skills.
Course Content
This qualification consists of seven units:
*Investigate Work Opportunities.
*Well-being and physical fitness
*Develop Team Working Skills.
* Self-discipline and development.
*Carry out basic map reading and navigation
*Participate in competitive sports
*Participate in adventurous outdoor activities.
Course Assessment
Assessment takes place through practical scenarios and assignments.
Coursework 40% and Practical 60%.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to study for this qualification, but you must demonstrate a genuine interest in this subject, be prepared to follow high standards of behaviour and display a positive attitude to study.
You must be prepared to be working towards GCSE English and GCSE Maths, or a Functional Skill at Entry 3 level or above.
An initial assessment of your English and maths may be required depending on your qualifications to check you have the skills needed to successfully complete this course.
