Course Summary
The Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) BTEC Foundation/Extended Diploma - Level 3 will enable you to develop new practical skills and acquire knowledge of electrical / electronics.
The Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) BTEC Foundation Diploma (540 GLH), is studied in year 1. Pathway progression is onto Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) BTEC Extended Diploma - Level 3, year 2 (1080 GLH).
Course Content
This course will enable you to specialise in the electrical/electronic discipline of engineering. At the end of the two year period you will be in a position to gain employment as an Engineering Technician, progress to a Technical Apprenticeship or progress to a degree course (suitable grades must be attained on this course).
Course Assessment
The assessments for this qualification are on-line exams, written exams and practical assessments
Materials
All class-based materials will be provided but you will need to provide stationary and a scientific calculator. Students are also required to purchase their own protective footwear, overalls and safety glasses

Progression
This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Engineering or to further study / higher education. This could be either directly to employment in Level 3 job roles, higher apprenticeship programmes or via higher education courses in engineering (HNC/HND)
Entry Requirements
For entry onto this qualification, learners must have achieved a minimum of GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and a grade 5 (B) in Maths plus 2 other GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or a BTEC First Level 2 Engineering Award at a merit grade. Previous experience/qualifications in engineering will also be considered.
